EFMTS

E-Fulusi Africa has established a system to process transactions and payments through mobile cellular networks. The company’s initial IT development was the E-Fulusi Mobile Transaction Switch (EFMTS).   EFMTS is an independent SWITCH that connects to all the four major mobile operators in Tanzania. EFMTS allows solutions to be provided by a third party through multiple methods, SMS, through Java applications that use GPRS connection, USSD and online. The first solution that was developed on EFMTS was an M-Banking Solution.

Subsequently, EFMTS allows for the provision of bundled white label services to Mobile Network operators, Financial Institutions and Independent Organizations. For example Zantel used our X- Pesa white label solution and branded it ZPesa, the solution was developed and is maintained at E-Fulusi. We have developed Bank models for financial institutions and in the same breadth we are proposing developing one independent model for the Tanzania Revenue Authority. E-Fulusi Africa’s goal is to facilitate the provision of financial services to a majority of the population, often located in rural areas representing banked, un-banked and under-banked communities. All these communities have access to mobile phones, either through a single community phone, or a single household phone, or often through each individual owning a phone.
